Vinyasa is a term that covers a broad range of yoga classes. The word Vinyasa means “breath-synchronized movement.” In other words, Cindy will instruct you to move from one pose to the next on an inhale or an exhale. This technique will allow the poses to run smoothly together.

Each class will start with different breathing techniques along with a relaxation and warm-up. You will find diversity and lots of variety and can expect movement and almost certain Sun Salutations. The class could be fast, slow or very alignment oriented depending on the lesson. There is no single philosophy, rulebook or sequence that a teacher must follow, so there is a lot of room for individual personalities.

When Vinyasa is used as a noun, it describes a series of three poses that are done as part of a Sun Salutation sequence. You will learn how to develop these poses as “going through the Vinyasa at your own pace” which means do Plank, Chaturanga and Upward Facing Dog.

Cynusura Vinyasa Yoga will warm the body, increasing stamina, internal balance and flexibility. Not to mention increasing your strength and toning your body.

Cindy’s class will end with final relaxation. If you enjoy having things a little loose, unpredictable and like to move, Cynusura Vinyasa is probably right for you!

The physiological and psychological benefits of meditation are well documented and are being experienced from the ball field to the boardroom.  This course is designed for practical people seeking to bring the benefits of meditation and mindfulness into their daily life. Using traditional meditation techniques, participants will experience increased awareness, clarity and focus. While learning to reduce the effects of anxiety and stress on both body and mind, participants will begin to enjoy a deep sense of calm, even during life’s most difficult situations. The  practice of transformational meditation will inform and enhance all of life’s activities and lead to an overall fuller enjoyment of life and better health and well being.

Private Yoga Classes are for individuals or special groups wanting individualized attention. Private Yoga Classes involve hands-on instruction aimed at enhancing postures and breathing techniques and improving alignment, flexibility and strength. Private Yoga Classes allow individuals to connect with their mind, body and spirit in a quieter setting. Such classes can also help groups become more in tune with their physical and mental balance and relationships.

As an individual, Private Yoga Classes focus on:

Yoga can be used as a tool to address specific physical and emotional needs. Specialty Classes are designed to target those needs that are unique to you. All Specialty Classes begin with a consultation, allowing Cindy to develop a program of specialized breathing techniques, postures and meditation to meet your specific needs and to help bring you into a better state of well being. Specialty Classes can be one on one program or can be set up for a small group (no more than 3 students per group).

Specialty Classes do not offer a cure for any condition, and you should consult with your doctor before pursuing this or any type of physical activity.
Working in partnership, you will share one posture while assisting each other toward steady improvement. Strength, balance and concentration are shared, enhanced and enjoyed.  Your partner’s presence does more than simply increase your stretch or add stability to your pose; it touches your emotions and embraces the soul while you make conscious contact with each other through your breath, touch and awareness.

Your partner can be anyone who shares your interest.  Choosing a partner is as simple as looking to the relationships that enrich your life:  your child (ages 11 and up), a friend, an intimate partner. 

In every partnership class you will discover aspects of balance, flexibility, strength and gentleness, while revealing the qualities in each other that foster communication, trust, intimacy and union.  The character of your partnership practice will emerge from the nature of your relationship and the focus you share with your partner.

The postures are linked in sequences to sustain focus, form and energy.  Practiced slowly, the sequences will encourage deep relaxation.  At a quick pace, they will produce heat in the body and build stamina.  Each sequence includes a transition to a healing phrase during which one partner is in repose while the other applies series of leans, stretches, twists and compressions.  This offers a nurturing contact, therapeutic touch and complete support.  It becomes a restorative balm for tired muscles and frayed nerves, bringing you back to more natural, vital state.

Love and intimacy take many forms, all potent, all beautiful – the warm inner fire of openhearted energy.  Partner yoga has evolved from a broad spectrum of shared experiences.  Every encounter, hilarious or holy, awkward or divine, is a precious exchange.
